Daffodil Day Acrostic Poem

We have been learning how to write acrostic poems and Chloe wrote this one on Daffodil Day.

Capillary Action - Attempt Two

When we did the first Capillary Action "Walking Water" experiment, we ended up wondering... What would happen if we used four colours?  So we set it up.
First you need 7 empty glasses - preferably the same size (although two of ours aren't).

Put different coloured dye in four of the glasses and then fill them with water to the top.

Then, get paper towels and twist them.  Place half of the paper towel into the glass with dye and the other half in the empty cup.  After that?  Well, to quote James, "You sit back and watch the MAGIC happen!"

Have a go at home and write in and let us know if you love this experiment as much as we do!!

Our buddy photostories

We have been learning how to take good photographs.  We had to pick a buddy and take either an action shot or a still shot of them.  We then had to think about what we liked about our photograph and put it onto a publisher document and state what we liked.  Here are some of the finished results.

Wacky Wig Day

Oh Wacky Wig day... how we LOVE you....
Here we are being sensible...

Now for the fun shot!!!!!

Walking Water

CAPILLARY ACTION EXPERIMENT

We have been learning about capillary action.  This is where we make water walk.  We have learnt that water is sticky... yes sticky... water likes to travel together.
What we did.
We first placed 400 mls of water in a jar and dyed it blue.  Then we took two paper towels and placed one in the blue water and the other in the empty jar.  Then we watched the magic happen.  The water started climbing up the paper towel.
This is due to the water being sticky and the paper towel being porous.
Water climbed up the paper towel until the water in each jar was evened out.
Then we wondered....
What would happen if we added 400 mls of yellow water?
Well the answer is this.
The yellow mixed with the blue in the middle jar and made green dye.  But, to our amazement the green in the middle jar also traveled to the end jar and turned it this beautiful turquoise colour. All the water in the jars evened out.
WE LOVED THIS EXPERIMENT!

Circus Quirkus

Circus Challenge came to our school and after the great show we got to learn some circus tricks.  We learnt how to spin and move the circus plates.  Next, we got to play with the circus sticks - which are harder than they look!  With a bit more practice we will be ready to wow our audiences.

Rhyming our spelling poetry

Rhyme with “OT”

WALT use rhyme to help us with our spelling.

On Planet Zot,
We lose the plot,
It’s so hot,
You always get a shot,
We live in a cot,
We love to wear dots,
We love the parking lots!
